     My knowledge and understanding of foods, nutrition, and health has changed the way I look at food. For instance, I don't look at a cake with a "mmm! cake! cut me a hunk" response.  I see it as a list of ingredients such as: sugar, hydrogenated oils, mono & diglycerides, artificial flavors & colors made from coal tar etc, and I ask myself, "Do I want that in my body?  Do I want my blood sugar elevated, my bowel clogged with fiber deficient sludge, my blood thickened from the fats, my nervous system and heart damaged by the poor quality fats, my attention dulled?  The answer is no, not only from 40 years of knowledge, but plain common sense.
     You don't have to have an advanced degree in nutrition to look at an apple and a slice of cake and know which one is healthier: yet, most people will eat the cake.  Why?, because they are feeding their addictions rather than their bodies.
      One must first choose to eat to live rather than living to eat, and then make common sense food choices. The doorway to health is not the entrance to the doctor's office, it is the door to your refrigerator, or your freezer, or cupboard.
